For many businesses, the first question about AI isn't what it can do, but where the data is stored. That question often reaches Legal, IT or Procurement before a single call is made. And until it's answered, the AI project waits.
As of October 2026, Aircall customers in the EU and Australia have their answer immediately: closer to home. New Aircall customers now have AI Voice Agent and AI Assist Pro conversation data stored at rest in their region: Frankfurt for the EU, and Sydney for Australia.
Bringing your AI data closer to you
Regional data storage isn't new at Aircall. Call recordings and voicemails for new EU accounts have been stored in our Frankfurt data center since May 2022, and we've since extended the same approach to transcriptions and AI Assist insights.
Now we're expanding regional data storage to our most advanced AI products:
AI Assist Pro
For accounts created on or after 1st October 2026, AI Assist Pro data is stored in the account's region.
AI Voice Agent
Call recordings are stored in your region, like any other Aircall recording. For accounts created on or after 6th October 2026, so are the call's technical activity log, the structured data extracted from the conversation, and automated post-call actions.
Why regional data storage matters
AI on calls creates more data than a recording alone; transcripts, summaries, scores and extracted details contribute to a wealth of information from each and every call. For teams in the EU and Australia, knowing where that data is stored is often a condition for rolling out AI at all.
With regional storage, new customers can:
Answer the data storage question early in a buying process, with a published list of what's covered
Give legal and IT teams a specific data center to review: AWS Frankfurt or AWS Sydney
Roll out AI Voice Agent and AI Assist Pro with conversation data stored in their region from the start
How Aircall’s regional data storage works
There's nothing to configure. Each new Aircall account is assigned a storage region automatically at signup, based on the phone number or country code used to create it.
EU: AWS eu-central-1, Frankfurt, Germany
Australia: AWS ap-southeast-2, Sydney, Australia
United States (default): AWS us-west-2, Oregon, USA
Once set, an account's storage region can't be changed.
What's covered (and what isn't)
Here's what's stored in your account's region today:
Call recordings and voicemails, including AI Voice Agent call recordings
Transcriptions
AI Assist insights: summaries, sentiment, key topics, action items and call scoring
AI Assist Pro data, for accounts created on or after 1st October 2026
AI Voice Agent technical and derived data, for accounts created on or after 6th October 2026
Some data isn't covered by regional storage today and, in most cases, is stored in the US:
Account and user data, such as profiles and admin settings
Call and messaging metadata, such as phone numbers, contacts, call time and duration
Billing and subscription data
Analytics and usage data
Support tickets and related data
SMS and WhatsApp messages, which are on our regional storage roadmap
Storage location describes where data lives at rest. Some of our support and product functions work across regions, so stored data may occasionally be accessed from outside your region to deliver the service. When that happens, security, contractual and organizational safeguards apply.
Already an Aircall customer?
Regional storage for AI Assist Pro and AI Voice Agent data currently applies to new accounts. Migration for existing accounts is targeted for the end of 2026, and we’ll update our Regional Data Hosting page as it progresses. Your Account Manager can confirm your account's current status.
