What is HIPAA?
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) is a US regulatory framework that sets the standard and governs the collection, use and disclosure of protected health information (“PHI”). Companies that handle PHI must ensure that all required physical, network, and process security safeguards are in place and followed.
Who does HIPAA apply to?
HIPAA applies to Covered Entities (typically clinics and health care providers) and their business associates who provide goods and services to them and who have access to PHI. Covered entities and their business associates must enter into business associate agreements (“BAA”) which govern their relationship with respect to the PHI.
Does Aircall offer a business associate agreement?
If you are a covered entity, you will receive a BAA at the start of service. How does Aircall protect PHI. Aircall implements organizational and technical safeguards to protect personal data including PHI. Please see here for more information on Aircall’s information security practices.
